What is OneMacon?

OneMacon is a comprehensive community and economic development five-year strategic plan. Over 40 diverse community leaders came together to build this plan, harnessing the strengths and achievements of various community-building organizations. They sought and received broad public input, studied aspirational communities for best practices, reviewed current and projected demographic data, as well as current and future job growth opportunities.

The strategy is built on three pillars: Schools, Jobs, and Place, with the understanding that a community with quality schools and abundant job opportunities is a desirable place to live and work.

The strategic plan and implementation guidelines were launched in early 2014 and can be found here:

Our Partners

OneMacon is making a positive economic impact on the region by supporting and enhancing the efforts of Macon-Bibb organizations collaboratively invested in the Schools, Jobs and Place pillars. OneMacon has become more than a method but a new culture of community progress. Partnerships thrive through an energetic and opportune region where workforce thrives, sense of places is keen and education excels opportunity.

Currently, the OneMacon Steering Committee is building the second five-year community and economic development strategic plan, which will launch in 2019.
